A Successful 6-Day Trip to the UK

Our Managing Director, Bill Deevy, undertook a 6-day motorcycle trip along the South and Southwest coastlines of the UK, visiting some of the RNLI all-weather Lifeboat stations along the way, and this is the recount of his trip:

“In the 1st week of August this year, I took a 6-day trip on my motorcycle along the South and Southwest coastlines of the UK, visiting some of the RNLI all-weather Lifeboat stations along the way.

I started at Poole in Dorset, as I had been there on a course for the previous week, continuing west along the Dorset coastline, into Devon on days 2 and 3, on into Cornwall for days 4 and 5 and eventually back to Pembroke on day 6 to get the ferry home. Between leaving my house in Dunmore East, getting the ferry from Rosslare to Pembroke, riding from Pembroke to Poole and then the 6-day tour before returning home, I clocked up over 4000 kilometres.

I’d like to be able to boast that I wild camped, caught fish and cooked it for my dinner each evening………..but I can’t.

I did venture inland for higher ground each evening to a local B&B that I had pre-booked. This was lovely as I woke up in the countryside each morning before heading back to the coastline for the next chapter.

It was a great trip after being locked down for 2 years and unable to tour. It was a great opportunity to meet the guys at the Lifeboat stations along the way and get an understanding of their local challenges shared over several cups of coffee and paired with salty tales along the way!”
